Last year, Pigeon visited Colorado libraries during the inaugural Pigeon Week hosted by Colorado State Library and the Colorado Department of Education. Pigeon made stops all along the Front Range and into some of the western half of the state, going as far northwest as Steamboat Springs and as far south as Manitou Springs. This year, Pigeon took flight again, this time starting his journey in the Denver Metro, then heading to the Eastern Plains, before flapping those wings all the way down to the southwest corner of the state and through the I-70 corridor and back to Denver.

Whew! Even just typing that all up was exhausting! A now seasoned Colorado visitor, Pigeon did everything from visit with library friends, tried on handmade clothes, attended theatre, rode on a bookmobile (they didn’t let him drive, though!), and made buttons.

His entire 2025 journey is cataloged online on Colorado Department of Education’s social media accounts (linked below). You can find the posts and read all about his adventures by visiting those posts from the links below.

Thank you to all Pigeon’s hosts for keeping him busy, giving him plenty to explore and experience, and reminding us all that libraries are books, yes, but they’re also so much more. Pigeon belongs in Colorado’s libraries along with the rest of us. We love Pigeon and Pigeon loves us.
One of the very best, most fun things we get to do all year at the state library is join Pigeon along his flight path and introduce him to our libraries. Thank you to every single person who joins us on the journey to keep him entertained. Your creativity and joy inspires us.
