Sew Fun

Summit County Library is launching a 4-part Beginner Sewing Workshop beginning February 21 at the South Branch Library. The series is designed for adults who are new to sewing machines or who want to brush up on their skills.

The Adult Makers Club at Nederland Community Library will explore Embroidery 101 on February 26. Registered participants will create an embroidered design on a piece of their own clothing.

Pikes Peak Library District will host Sewing Level 1 on February 27 at Library 21c. Participants will learn the basics of machine sewing—including winding a bobbin, threading the machine, and navigating the interface of a computerized sewing machine—to create a simple project.

Pueblo City-County Library District’s 6-part series, Drop Spinning: From Spindle to Yarn, continues on February 21 at the Rawlings branch. At this meeting, participants will get a basket for storing all their spinning tools and materials.

Just for Teens

Aurora Public Library invites tweens and teens to a Blind Chocolate Taste Test on February 24 at Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. Test your knowledge at this friendly, sweet competition.

Anythink Wright Farms is holding a Teen Songwriting Workshop on February 26. Participants will delve into song structure, rhyme schemes, and poetic devices in lyric writing.

Westminster Public Library’s Teen Zine Workshop is February 25 in the Irving Street Community Room. Learn to make zines as a medium for creative expression and storytelling.

Join Garfield County Libraries for Wild Mustangs of Colorado: From Range to Home on February 26 at the Glenwood Springs Branch. Explore the journey of Colorado’s wild mustangs and learn about the Bureau of Land Management’s adoption requirements.

Estes Valley Library welcomes writer-director Ethan Knightchilde for Greetings From the Old West: Colorado Ghost Towns on February 23. His presentation will explore both famous and little-known legends from beyond Colorado’s vanished frontier.

Meeker Regional Library District invites their community to Your New Universe: Recent Discoveries in Cosmology on February 23. Host Dr. Bob Dorsett will present new findings from the latest generation of telescopes as well as their potential implications and lingering questions.

Durango Public Library will host Getting Creative with Canva on February 24. Teens and adults will learn how to use this online design tool to create a basic flyer, with tips on making wedding invitations, logos, invoices, stickers and more.

Community Togetherness

Denver Public Library’s Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library invites the public to its Third Annual Black History Month Art Exhibition. This dynamic exhibition featuring work by eight extraordinary artists from across Colorado will be on display on the seventh floor of the Central Library through March 14.

Clearview Library District invites their community to a Frosty Friday Olympics Watch Party on February 20 at Windsor Library. Drop in to view the day’s live events, plus warm drinks and some friendly competition.

Poudre Libraries is hosting a Clothing Swap on February 22 at Old Town Library. Beginning February 15, participants can donate up to two bags of gently used clothing. You do not have to donate in order to shop the swap.
