Nick Tanzi will present “AI in Libraries: a primer.” The rapid rise of ChatGPT, text-to-image generators, and other iterations of artificial intelligence (AI) has sparked a range of reactions in libraries. These include fear, excitement, and a large dose of confusion! Our speaker will cover the basics of AI, before turning to specific (and popular) services, exploring their possibilities and pitfalls when used in a library setting.

OATS & Senior Planet for Colorado Libraries

Representatives from Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP will introduce Colorado libraries to the way OATS can support libraries to empower older adults with the tools and training necessary to take advantage of today’s technology and use it to enrich their lives. OATS is a social impact organization with a mission to “harness the power of technology to change the way we age.” They will also introduce Colorado libraries to their flagship program, Senior Planet from AARP through which OATS creates and delivers in-person and online lifelong learning experiences in wellness, technology, and lifestyle management.

Libraries are in a unique position as anchor institutions throughout metropolitan, rural, mountain, and remote areas of the state to access funding, partnerships, and other resources through the federal and state investment in digital inclusion efforts.
