Art is Everywhere
Mesa County Libraries are accepting applications now through November 17 for openings in the 970West Studio Artist in Residence program for 2018. The program will accept three artists for 15-week terms each. A variety of mediums will be considered, but applicants must be 18 or older and reside in Mesa County. Read more and apply.
Performers from the show DragOn will present Drag Queen Storytime at the Boulder Public’s Main Library, November 18 & 20, 10:15 to 11:00 am.
Adults and Technology
Want to play with some cool new tech toys? Visit the Old Town Library in Poudre River Public Library District November 17 from 12:00 to 2:00 to get hands-on experience with new technology and learn about tech-related programs at the library.
The Digital Skills for Adults class at Grand County’s Kremmling Library is a hit! This weekly class includes instruction, hands-on learning with your personal mobile device, and time for questions. The next meeting is November 14 at 4:30.
Join Denver’s Environmental Health Department at Denver Public Library’s Central branch to learn about energy efficiency improvements for your home, solar energy options and how best to find resources in Denver when starting a project. Energy Efficiency and Solar Possibilities for Your Home is Tuesday, November 14, 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
Garfield County Libraries are starting a series next week called What the Health: Learn to Eat Well @ Your Library, presented by Nutritional Health Coach Troye Boone with the Glenwood Springs Natural Grocers. The first class, Good4u Food on a Budget, is November 14 at 6:00 pm at Parachute Branch Library, with additional classes on November 15 & 16 at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library and Rifle Branch Library, respectively.
Pick ‘n’ Mix
Gypsup Public Library has several tabletop role-playing game sessions per week for teens and adults. On Monday and Wednesday evenings, participants can play Dungeons and Dragons, Shadowrun, and similar games.
Dolores Public Library will host an encore presentation of Burros of Grand Canyon National Park, November 14 at 6:30. Speaker Mark Applequist will share his experience as part of an expedition in 1981 to remove feral burros from the park.
Libraries in the News
The Durango Telegraph published a story about the vibrant community spaces at Pine River Library, including a garden, art exhibit area, and a playground. The Library Park Grand Opening and Donor Wall Unveiling will take place this Saturday, November 11 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
What’s New at the Colorado State Library
CSL Share & Learn is a free event that combines hands-on professional learning with time for sharing with colleagues. The next CSL Share & Learn will be in Greeley on December 8 at Farr Regional Library. Register online by December 4.
Register for: Using Data to Understand Your Community & Measure Impact. The Research Institute for Public Libraries (RIPL) and PLA’s Project Outcome are partnering to offer this free webinar on November 30 at 12:00 pm MDT. Presenters will include CSL’s Linda Hofschire, Director of Library Research Services, and Sharon Morris, Director of Library Development.
