Summer Reading is Here!

Clearview Library District is kicking off their Summer Adventure Program with a Water Festival, June 1 at Windsor-Severance Library. Enjoy an afternoon of water games, a visit from the Denver Aquarium, a DIY bubble wand station, bookmark creation station, a mini sailboat regatta, a shark photobooth, under the sea refreshments, and much more! Douglas County Libraries invites you to Unlock the Magic and help them achieve their community reading goal while earning prizes for yourself and your school. Learn more.

Lamar Public Library is using READsquared to make their summer reading program available to patrons of all ages, pre-k through adult. Learn more.

Boulder Public Library’s Summer of Discovery begins June 1 and includes incentives and programs for readers of all ages. Register to attend an author visit from Brian Pinkney on June 4.

Vail Public Library’s Kids Summer Reading Program lineup includes fly fishing, a drum safari, foam party, nature walk, and more. Event page.

Lake County Public Library has a variety of summer reading events planned, starting with a Kickoff Party on June 25 featuring chalk art and the debut of their Story Walk along the Mineral Belt Trail. The fun continues with several themed storytimes, a musical performance and open mic, and a drive-in movie night. Learn more.

Wilkinson Public Library is kicking off summer reading with a snow-cone party on May 26. Enjoy an icy treat while you get signed up for the program. Learn more.

Pick ‘n’ Mix

Mesa County Libraries will host a Teen Self-Care Fair to showcase options for teen well-being on May 21 at the Central Library. In addition to highlighting mental health services, the event will also include activities like board games, a bounce house, yoga, and meditation. Learn more.

Finals can be stressful—Aurora Public Library invites teens to de-stress at their Nerf Slugfest at Tallyn’s Reach Library on May 20. Register online.

Longmont Public Library is hosting a Book Launch Party & Storytime with author Andrea Wang and illustrator Hyewon Yum on May 21. Wang, a Newbery Honor and APALA award-winning author, will read from her latest book, Luli and the Language of Tea. Register online.

Garfield County Libraries is hosting Welcome to a Day in Tahiti at several branch libraries throughout the month. Dance company Aspen Polynesia will present traditional Ori Tahiti dancing and music; check the event calendar for an upcoming performance.

The Mah Jongg group of High Plains Library District meets the first and third Fridays of the month at Carbon Valley Regional Library. Players of all skill levels are welcome! The next meeting is May 20. Event calendar.

Trinidad Carnegie Public Library will host a workshop on how to act safely around dogs on May 27 at 2:00 pm. Doggone Safe is especially adapted for children and their families, but anyone interested can come. You will learn how to read a dog’s body language, and how to be safe around your own dog and also strange dogs. Learn more.
