We are delighted to announce a three-part CSL in Session series, Everyday Evaluations, presented by the Colorado State Library’s Library Research Service!
We’ve all been asked to evaluate a piece of our work at some point! In this three-part series, we will share strategies to collect and communicate actionable data ethically and efficiently.
Part I – Ethics – October 15, 2024 at 11 AM MT – Registration is required
In this session we will lay the groundwork for responsible research in libraries by covering ethical (and not so ethical) uses for data. This will include a discussion on library law and tips for vetting the vendors that libraries work with to ensure their practices are in line with the library’s standards. Then, we will wrap up with an activity showing how even anonymized data can be re-identified if certain details are shared carelessly!
Part II – Collection – October 29, 2024, at 11 AM MT – Registration is required
In this session we will dive into the world of data collection. Using real-world examples, we’ll go over project goals, accessible collection, types of data that you choose or need to collect and navigating sticky data collection situations. Part of the session will be a workshop, so we encourage you to bring your own project with you!
Part III – Analysis and Visualization – November 12, 2024, at 11 AM MT – Registration is required
In this third session, we will discuss best practices for data analysis and visualization. Then, we’ll walk participants through cleaning data, creating visualizations, and analyzing the patterns and new information that are revealed.
Make sure to register for all three webinars in the series!
