The Colorado Book Club Resource (BCR) is a collection of 1,200+ sets for book clubs all across the state. Each book club set contains eight or more copies of a book, plus discussion materials.
We partner with local libraries and use the statewide courier service to provide the materials book clubs need. We are proud to bring you an ever-changing collection of titles that would enrich any book club’s reading. Stay up to date with the collection by reading the posts below.
All lending goes through dedicated staff members in local libraries. This is because we use the library courier to transport sets to you. That means the simplest way for your book club to get set up is to speak to your local library’s Primary Contact, if one exists. It is the decision of the library whether they take part in our program.
Most libraries across the state already have an account with us that is managed by one Primary Contact. But if your library is not familiar with our service, enrolling is easy!
You can also send us an email and we can reach out to your local branch on your behalf, if you prefer.
Once you are set up with your library contact, usually it is as simple as letting them know which set you want. They will take it from there and let you know when your set is ready to pick up, etc.

The BCR is a program of the Colorado State Library. The collection exists to make it easy for staff at public libraries (and other educators) to gather the materials for book clubs. A set is loaned out to a book club for eight weeks at a time, plus renewals if no other holds are waiting. Book bags contain eight or more copies of the book, plus discussion questions, icebreakers, and often little giveaways. Staff at local libraries are responsible for managing the loan and returning it to the State Library using the courier. There is no cost to use the program, but patron libraries are responsible for returning materials in a complete state. Refer to the links below for more information.
The Primary Contact at any given branch takes care of all loans for that branch (requests from patrons/community members, their own internal book clubs, etc.). We direct interested community members to the Primary Contact at their nearest branch, if one exists.
